Ingredients:
Murungai keerai (drumstick greens with flowers) - 2 cups
Water - 2 and half cup
Shallots - 10 nos coarsely ground
Pepper corns - 1 tablespoon
Jeera - 1/4 teaspoon
Garlic - 1 full coarsely ground
Ginger - 1 inch bark coarsely ground
Salt - as per taste
Tumeric powder - a pinch
Coriander leaves - few chopped
This is the most simple and healthy soup that my mom makes. Since we have murungai maram at my backyard, she would make this whenever we asked for. Murungai keerai is rich with Iron, she makes this often.
Wash murungai keerai well and put it in a pressure cooker with 2 and half cups of water. Add all the crushed shallots, garlic, ginger, pepper corns, jeera, salt and tumeric powder.
Pressure cook this over low flame for 4-5 whistles and reduce it to one cup once the pressure releases by itself. You may serve it with chopped coriander leaves.
My mom used to make this every day for my sister when she was pregnant. She said that it helps with the gastric trouble that women usually gets during pregnancy and also this dish adds up the iron intake that's need during pregnancy.
